i found a very bad poem
someone had left behind
on a park bench today
i understand why they left it:
'There
were three
VHS tapes,
among those other sorts of things that young families do keep,
in the cardboard box
that
I bought cheaply
from the thin lady
in the lawn chair.
And I watched
them all
on
my
curduroy couch, and I
did fall
in
love with
(and they did all contain)
the little girl in the over-sized striped shirt
singing,
'tra la la'.
'Tra la la'."
