Very Bad Poetry

Welcome to the last refuge for the world's worst poetry.

It's difficult to understand how, in this age of information, poems that merely miss the mark can be tossed into the cold world to fend for themselves, only to whither and be forgotten.

Please help us to help them to help us.

Olly Bryan

the truth about actors

you know you’re watching

a good actor

when you don’t care

that they are being fake.

white lightning

if i was a formula one driver

i would drink

all of the champagne

i wouldn’t waste a drop

but then i do

drink white lightning.

indifference

as the small bird

teeters on the tiles

outside

the murky clouds

are moaning

to each other

they don’t

want for

rainfall

nor

do they

care

for sunshine

but they’ve

got to do

something.

Millionaire Shortbread

I ate a piece of millionaire shortbread and I felt like I was a millionaire with a beautiful woman by my side. I am not a millionaire; it’s just how the shortcake made me feel. The woman thought was probably lingering and the taste of caramel made me think of beauty. I think of women when I think of beauty - landscapes and architectural masterpieces are mere footnotes to the appearance of a beautiful woman. Delusion is a wonderful thing if you are aware of it.

Olly Bryan has published since joining on 30/11/99. Read more of Olly's terrible poetry at the anthology. Here are three of Olly's latest works:
