To McGonagall

Oh, fine and noble bard of Tay,
You went on your way,
With us, you couldn’t stay,
And play the fine instrument of your poetic skill another day.

From Dundee to old ‘Glasgae’,
To strong drink ye always said a firm “Nay,”
With a deft hand you moulded the clay,
That formed the great poetry of the present day.

I now conclude my lay,
For on this subject I cannot stay,
It only remains to say,
That $11.95 for you Poetic Gems was a very fair price to pay.
