Sonnet XXIX
Pavel Sodalovnavskeritzov
When in disgrace with fortune and my old lady
I all alone beweep my being outcast from the house
And trouble my deaf girlfriend—damnit I forgot my boots-- and cry
And look upon myself and curse at Faith
Wishing I had been rich and married Hope
Featuring his and his friends’ possessions
Desiring this man’s artwork and that man’s telescope
With what I most enjoyed, and hoping not to get busted,
Yet in these thoughts, I say, “Self, what the hell are you doing,”
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
(Like to the engine’s roar at break of day arising
around the Formula 1 track) sings hymns at heaven's gate,
For thy sweet love and their stolen possessions such wealth brings,
That then I score! Yeah! In the county of Kings.
