Prisoner of War
Amri Jaesal
In my own life,
In my own family,
In my own home,
I am a prisoner of war.
I will not talk.
Playing my own game,
The others have cheated.
They smirk at me
Because I can't prove it.
I will not give in to their tyranny.
Holding my own rules,
Keeping a strong poker face.
They find a way to
Breach my defenses.
I will not surrender my secrets.
They want to know
What I'm fighting for.
They ask the one question
I could never answer.
I will not trust them.
They assume that I have
Nothing left to live for,
And nothing left to lose.
That I'll tell them everything.
I will not let my guard down.
Strike like snakes,
That's what they do.
They find a weakness
And stab you through the heart.
I will not be threatened.
They think they know all
There is to know about me.
How wrong they are.
They know nothing.
I will not tell let them know more.
They want me to trust
At a first glance. They don't
Know how stupid they are.
It takes years to trust people.
I will not trust a shrink.
They don't know how hard it is,
Living without taking your guard down.
The don't know the pressure.
Loyalty to your heart or your mind?
I will not choose either.
In my own life,
In my own family,
In my own home,
I am a prisoner of war.
I will not die betrayed by myself.
