Very Bad Poetry

Welcome to the last refuge for the world's worst poetry.

It's difficult to understand how, in this age of information, poems that merely miss the mark can be tossed into the cold world to fend for themselves, only to whither and be forgotten.

Please help us to help them to help us.

Preconceived Opinions

Amrita Gupta

I hated them all
With every fiber in my body.
Their profession was the same,
So were their personalities.

But that's no reason for
Preconceived opinions
Because today is a new day.

Really, this one wouldn't be
Any different from the others.
I was positive, and you should always
Prepare for the very worst.

But that's no reason for
Preconceived opinions.
Because everyone is different.

I didn't want to give her a chance,
Because I was so certain that
It would be for nothing. Maybe it would be.
Hell, I didn't know. You have to take risks.

But that's no reason for
Preconceived opinions.
Because I would risk everything.

But why? That's the question.
Why lay on the line everything
I've worked so hard for, set in
The hands of someone I can't trust?

But that's no reason for
Preconceived opinions.
Because she could be different.

What I want to do is simply
Lock my feelings away, in a place
Where no one would hurt them or
Befuddle them in any which way.

But that's no reason for
Preconceived opinions.
Because denying something is cowardice.

Who knows? Should I risk it?
I don't want to. I really think that
I'm stepping into a trap. But today
Really is a new day.

And that should wash away
Any preconceived opinions.
