If simple is here,

what greets is without fail fear.
Knowledge acquired...
Murphy's Law tells me
that pondering further than this
pays naught, small talk.
Knowledge spurned......
Books burn well,
their spiritual uppercut
seldom given freely.
Cooks burn swell,
if ending a shift in oven;
a whiff.
