Very Bad Poetry

Welcome to the last refuge for the world's worst poetry.

It's difficult to understand how, in this age of information, poems that merely miss the mark can be tossed into the cold world to fend for themselves, only to whither and be forgotten.

Please help us to help them to help us.

Pixie Dust Fairy Meets the Sledge Hammer of Reality

Michael Reed

Thousands of tiny-winged fairies land on the head of a nail
...and are flattened beneath the heavy sledge hammer of reality.
Ufologist searches the darkened sky for a ride
...and is transformed into a whiff of plasma by the meteorite of reason.
Clergyman stands praying in the open field of a cemetery
...when a lightning strike of truth sends 1,000 amps through his heart.
Pet psychic visits the dog owner's home
...and is shredded by the loosely-chained pit bull of logic.
Conspiracy theorist sits on a park bench watching videos
...as the dead oak tree of rationality falls across his chest.
Tarot reader interprets cards at a restaurant table
...when the SUV of rationality crashes through the window crushing her.
Homeopathic doctor prescribes placebos for an athlete's cancerous tumor
...and his skull is shattered by the swinging baseball bat of knowledge.
And thus it will always be
that when the mythological little Irishman encounters the sharpened chain saw of science,
science decapitates the leprechaun.
