Very Bad Poetry

Welcome to the last refuge for the world's worst poetry.

It's difficult to understand how, in this age of information, poems that merely miss the mark can be tossed into the cold world to fend for themselves, only to whither and be forgotten.

Please help us to help them to help us.

PEPPERS OFTEN HURT THE MEEK

Shirley Gothen

We're cooking in the kitchen
Its hot but the windows are open
and the oven off
The peppers are cut,
like my soul, in shapes
that remind me
of what youth used
to smell like.
You're cutting grapes
now, God knows why.
You know I'm allergic.

Do you hate me?
Do you love me so much

you wish I would lay in state and beauty?
For you, I would.
The coffin almost sounds better
than the cold mahogany
of your
embrace.
