Very Bad Poetry

Welcome to the last refuge for the world's worst poetry.

It's difficult to understand how, in this age of information, poems that merely miss the mark can be tossed into the cold world to fend for themselves, only to whither and be forgotten.

Please help us to help them to help us.

Ode to My Tuxedo Cat

Graph Desino

You’re brilliant, my fiendish feline friend
Always polite, always well-dressed
Even as a kitten, I somehow knew
You were smarter than the rest.

Behind your eyes, so green and wild,
A human mind worked through your test.
How to scale, escape, defeat
That cursed cat-proof fence.

You made a flying leap towards freedom,
Felt a sharp pain in your chest.
You fell from the rooftop in agony
Dying in protest.

We took you to the hospital
(I swear you must be blessed)
And you survived that first wound, thank God
The vet’s now-frequent guest.

You’ve foiled the fence after several new plots,
And I’ll be honest – I’m impressed.
You’re smart, my pet, but you’re suicidal.
Are you learning any sense?
