Hurt

Nam Patel

Brain overtaken by the organ the size of a fist, unable to comprehend anything but...
I hurt - the heart says.
I'm sorry - I apologize - I'm sorry I made you vulnerable.
I'm sorry I opened you up after a lifetime of being in an dark and closed off place.
I hurt - the heart moans.
I won't do it again - I try to console.
I hurt - the heart snaps back sarcastically.
You'll heal, you'll feel, you'll deal.
I hurt - the heart cries.
