How I Became Me

Linda Scratt

I am the sunshine yellow piano that
let go of failure and geese
and became a diamond-studded lion.
I am the big shiny tour bus with
36 miles to the gallon:
Invincible, precocious,
and unbelievable. I forgot
how to be Palladium;
platinum and stable.
I remember breathing in
a high F# and sneezing
out a D.
I used to be a rocky chair
but now have turned to wicker.
