Very Bad Poetry

Welcome to the last refuge for the world's worst poetry.

It's difficult to understand how, in this age of information, poems that merely miss the mark can be tossed into the cold world to fend for themselves, only to whither and be forgotten.

Please help us to help them to help us.

Hospital

Amrita Gupta

Walls smell so sanitized
Those clean white coats
They see if you’re still living
Using icy stethoscopes

ICU, psych ward
Don’t care where I’m left
When those glass doors close
My heart’s not prone to theft

I can’t remember the world
I don’t know the week or day
Take out your scalpel, doc
Come on, let’s play

Whitewashed sheets
This room’s got no flowers
Still, silent, and content
Hear the passing hours

Don’t want any visitors
Don’t want them to see
The pathetic barely-human
That they once thought was me

Don’t let them in
Or I’ll have to fake sleep
As I hear the talk of memories
I wish that I could keep

The doctors smile vacantly
Say I’ll soon be well
Please, I’m still so sick
No one else can tell

My lights are switched off
I’m under the knife
They can’t fix my problem
My problem is life
