Very Bad Poetry

Welcome to the last refuge for the world's worst poetry.

It's difficult to understand how, in this age of information, poems that merely miss the mark can be tossed into the cold world to fend for themselves, only to whither and be forgotten.

Please help us to help them to help us.

Hiding Behind a Mask

Jean Hall

This is just a mask
A shell of who I used to be
If anyone ever looked
They'd know it's not really me

This smile is as fake
As the happiness in my voice
And my well-covered bruises
Prove that this was never my choice

The tears that I shed
Are the result of this life
The things that I have gone through,
The pain as deadly as a knife

Who would know if I stopped this dream
If I quit trying to suceed
If I ended my life, with one short scream
Who would know?
Who would care?

And so I keep it all in
My mask, the shell of who I used to be
Because if anyone ever bothered to look
They'd know it's not actually me

Jean Hall has published another poem since joining on 30/11/99. Read more of Jean's terrible poetry at the anthology. Here are three of Jean's latest works:
