Self-referential are poems prone to be
but no i’ll resist i won’t won’t let it be
i’ll move on to the thing that is simmering in me
not self-referential in the way that you see
so now it is time to say what we feel
as collective ambassadors of fatigue and of zeal
time to shine a torch on that which is real
time to say ‘look’ and ‘stop’ and ‘never conceal’
but i’m just a fool and you too are like me
so what i intend and do are rarely congealed
remaining apart when one’s fatigued without zeal
