Conch Shell
Latterday Lenin
Conch shell
O! Conch shell!
Tell me your secrets.
I hold you to my ears
Upthrust you to the sky and proclaim
You the keeper of the world's dark mysteries
Like the Mayan priests of old
Like the Aztec god-kings
Who foretold.
Earth past and present
Secrets locked within
Waiting for the future
To unfold, themselves.
Speak
in la lengua de la mar,
And reveal unto me and only me,
Oh, Conch.
Forget your timid ways,
The hardened exterior you build
To protect your gift,
Your exoskeleton of fear
Your heart-sheath of stone.
I will not share your sacred whisp'rings.
