Befriending paradise
Steve Turner
November 10, 2009
It was 21 degrees today wet and snowing
I had just frolicked in the yard wearing a speedo
The neighbors called 911 to report invalids in high-heels
Cavorting in the nude
Boy, did they have that wrong
All the playfullness of life gets superseded by
Dodgy picky snoopy people
Looking out from mostly closed living room curtains
Spying on the outside world without having a clue
About their inside world
Closed, shallow, uninspired minds
Clinging to a mind-set decades ago
When everyone went to church on Sunday
And sat down to Sunday dinners
And talked about shallow lives around a shallow dining room table
Ever hoping that their lives would improve
Without getting off of their buttocks to make an effort
To improve them, only to loudly complain about others
Who tried in vociferous and imaginative ways
About planting flowers in bizarre flower pots hung from the front stoop
And gayly hung flags from the front porch inviting the gods of spring
Back to earth after cold winter nights
So I dance in a speedo just to create havoc with local mind-sets
And I have blue balls
