Arthurs,, A Soldiers Poem
Robert Hawkins
Through frustration and so much dispair.
The soldier must endure.
Giving his life believing his country might endure.
The right the wrongs a soldier must plod on.
Even when battles are hopeless lost.
So his war angainst evil will go on.
Laying dead at suns dusk.
The soldier knew beyond doubt.
War angainst evil would be won.

note; Written in honor New Zealand's 2nd division.
22nd Battalion Lieut. Colonel L.W. Andrew commanding.
Battle for Crete his withdrawl from Hill 107 through German positions.
At Maleme Colonel Andrew was struck by bomb fragments in his temple.
He simply pulled the metal slivers out of his head.
With guts and bravery soldiered on.
For this and more.
I honor him.

As a Texan,, honor.
Honor them that honor is due.
And not what you might think of me. bobby
