A window to the Past
Huma Munir
I see her gliding through the streets,
Glistening in the summer heat,
She walks in circles round and round,
Slightly hovering above the ground,
Hands entwined together with friends,
She laughs until her heart’s content,
The mud streaks on her rosy cheeks,
Are signs of sports like hide n seek,
She spends her days without a sigh,
Like a bird reaching for the sky,
I sometimes watch her from afar,
She smiles at me like a distant star,
The wind still carries it like a whisper,
Her sweet scent that seems to linger,
Memories that stretch like the Nile,
She lives in me like a suppressed smile.
