A One-Size Hat

Asserts my hat glumly: One size fits all.
A hollow promise, really.
But how hollow must it be to fit my hollow head?
Which after all stands in that promise's stead.
Today like warmed granite
Stoically refuses the head my hat.
Unperturbed in burning, oblivious in baldingness,
The staunch resistance wavers never for a moment!
That is why I am hatless at the zoo.
